Description

A beautifully preserved piece of Earth's ancient history, (late Cretaceous), it's "Ammolite" shell intact and flashing the full spectrum of colors. Encased in a clear epoxy shell, it can now be handled without fear of crumbling.
I thought it might be useful in a classroom as a teachers aid, but it also would be a nice addition to any Fossil collection. Measures: 3.5" x 1.5" x 1"  weighs 5.2 oz
The shells of some Baculites and Ammonites can actually transform (under certain conditions) into a prized gemstone called "Ammolite" which can be quite valuable.

Both Baculites and Ammonites are extinct mollusks related to the modern squid, octopus and Chambered Nautilus. Under certain conditions related to fossilization, the nacreous shell becomes highly iridescent; the resulting gemlike material is called "ammolite."
